Dwayne Johnson appeared to be babysitting last night when he attended the LA premiere of Race to the Witch Mountain. The former “Rock” (he’s ditched the nickname) kept things casual as he posed in jeans and a leather jacket, joined by co-stars Alexander Ludwig, and brightly dressed Carla Gugino, and AnnaSophia Robb.
The 1975 remake is an edgier Disney creation – part of the studio’s goal to re-claim their young audience. And what better way to do that than with aliens, super powers, and the Apocalpyse? In the sci-fi-like click, Johnson plays a cab driver helping his passengers – all teenage extraterrestrials – save the world from evil while outrunning government agents.
Jeez, the times have changed. When I was a teenager, all we cared about were fun movies about smoking pot and running from dinosaurs.
