Just to clarify, Heath’s not actually shown doing drugs and we felt this was newsworthy enough to provide to you guys. This way, you can decide whether or not you want to view it for yourself.
The late actor, Heath Ledger, who was found deceased earlier this month in his Soho apartment can now be seen in a video at a Hollywood drug party, recorded shortly after his film, “Brokeback Mountain,” had earned him a SAG Award nomination for Leading Role. The video, which was shot at the infamous Chateau Marmont reveals a guilty Heath talking to the camera, and at some point, a man is seen in the background appearing to snort something that looks like drugs from the table. Originally, it was set to air on Entertainment Tonight, which teased the video on the show, but but has since decided to shelve it.
Heath confesses that he had been smoking pot for most of his life, telling a guest, “I shouldn’t be here at all,” and saying, “I used to smoke five joints a day for 20 years.”
In a chilling admission, Heath tells a fellow party guest, “I’m going to get serious s–t from my girlfriend,” adding, “We just had a baby three months ago.” Reportedly, Michelle Williams and daughter Matilda were in the hotel in another room at the time of the party.
It is a bit hypocritical that people are so outraged about this video. I’m tickled that celebrity blog enthusiasts are so concerned about a so-called right to privacy (how much privacy can be expected at a party in full view of other party goers?). I never see this much outrage over unflattering pictures of celebrities taken in similar situations, without their knowledge. What’s different about this situation is that Ledger has become a tragic hero in the public’s mind, and like the public is wont to do with the the characters developed in the tabloids, they are weaving a story about him (one that is based less on truth and more on a fundamental human narrative). And the truth is that he was a drug addict who made bad decisions which probably led to his death. And there’s a lesson in there for a lot of people, if we’re willing to confront this uncomfortable fact that doesn’t fit so well into the story we want to tell.
And ASL is right — this is newsworthy, if sad and uncomfortable. So are the images of coffins coming home from Iraq. Fully confronting the truth of uncomfortable things can lead to positive change.

I agree with Monique – I too am deleting your bookmark and not returning. One too many douche moments to stomach. But then any gossip blogger is by definition a “douche” and so are people like me who visit them. This was a wake up call to me.

Change the word man to woman and you have a description of various Paris Hilton videos that have been shown on every blog site including this one, with zero controversy. So what’s the difference here: that Heath Ledger is dead, possibly due in part to drug use? If Paris were to drop dead tomorrow, would we all be expected to forget we’ve all made fun of her here for years?
I’m going to take the unpopular view and say that any footage of a celebrity using drugs is always considered newsworthy to sites like ASL. If people want to say that Ledger needs to be treated with kid gloves because he’s now dead, I can’t agree with that. Heath Ledger was not Gandhi, he wasn’t Mother Teresa, he had no special qualities that I know of other than being a guy who made movies. If this story really upsets any of you that much, celebrities have too big a role in your lives.

The man was a druggie, who obviously didn’t care enough about his only child to stop his selfish habit. The first year a child goes through so many transformations that they sometimes change on a daily basis. And this fuck face was in a drug house enjoying himself. Its an interesting bit of morals and integrity that it was taken down, but some of you need to get your head on straight.
Firstly, I havent seen the video. Heath wasnt one of my favorite actors. In his death, I wasnt disturbed. I felt of course bad, but nothing to put me off in anyway.

I cannot understand why all the bitter comments against ASL for showing this video. Some of us sees this site, even though it is a gossip site as a medium to be updated about issues concerning celebrities and their life style.
We are entitled to knwo the truth I suppose, If HEATH was actually doing drugs, then it is no big deal to show it. Afterall, some people could learn from the picture what it (drug) is all about.

Let’s not canonize Heath Ledger. 28 year olds don’t just die like that. Of course he took drugs. He had his demons. That doesn’t take from the fact that he was a gifted actor.
The real tragedy lies in the fact that whatever was eating him blinded him to the fact of how lucky he was to have such a beautiful daughter and girlfriend. He chose his party lifestyle over them. Maybe if he’d lived, in time he’d have worked out his problems. Who knows. It’s a tragic waste of life.
I don’t particularly feel that ASL were wrong to post up this video. I haven’t watched it because I chose not to. We all have that choice.

I’m a fuckin 19 year old kid and I go to parties all the time and most of them have either weed or coke or other shit going around. That’s NOT unusual and it also doesnt mean that i’m on all this shit just because i’ve been at places where its around. Its really not a big deal whatsoever that he was at a party w some drugs, and i GUARENTEE you it wasnt the first time this CELEBRITY was at a party that had drugs. I didn’t see the video and I certainly hope his daughter never does either. I just cannot believe that actor etc. get no privacy. I’m sure there is things in everyones lives that no one wants displayed for the whole world to see. I have 2 children myself and I would be humilated if they knew some of the things I’ve done in my past

Just because not everyone gets hurt doesn’t mean it’s safe…yay, he was a great actor, but he was in no way a perfect person or role model which is evident by the circumstances of his untimely death. Yes, it is a shame that he died and the world did lose a great person. But he took his destiny into his own hands when he took drugs. Shit happens…I’m sure this devastating outcome will affect someone positively, even if it is only to help 1 person kick the habit….I think that the video should be viewed if for no other reason than to expose what these “role models” are doing behind closed doors….all you other hypersensitives need to think about that instead of flipping out, the people that reported on this are doing their job, nothing more.
