More information has emerged surrounding the death of Adam Goldstein, AKA DJ AM, who was found dead in his New York City apartment on Friday, August 28. It’s pretty upsetting and will most likely make those who love and miss him wish he’d done what he said he’d do sooner.
Apparently just hours before his death, Adam had agreed to check back into rehab to help his addiction. The New York Post reports that his West Coast manager and recovery sponsor were so worried but his drug filled behavior, that a caught a flight to New York Wednesday night to confront him on Thursday morning.
Adam didn’t let his manager in, but saw his sponsor, and apparently lit up a crack pipe and took some pills in front of him. He then promised his sponsor and manager that he would check into a rehab clinic in California after his performance in Las Vegas Friday night. Sadly, that didn’t happen.
When police searched his apartment, they found painkillers Vicodin and oxycodone, as well as anti-anxiety pills Xanax and lorazepam. The only drug found in the apartment with a proper prescription was a medication for diarrhea. According to sources, Adam had been having severe anxiety with flying, and constantly asking for anti-anxiety pills. It is unclear whether in stemmed from his near death plane crash last September, or if he had the anxiety, and the plane crash just didn’t help.
Moral of the story kids? Don’t do drugs. Drugs are bad. Drugs kill famous celebrities and no one likes that, do they?

No sympathy for this guy. He got a second chance at life after surviving a plane crash for christ sake! He should have been greatfull, but instead like everyone else in Hollywood he turned to drugs.
He should have known by now that mixing drugs and pills kills people.
No loss, he brought it upon himself.

Although I agree that it was a second chance at life, being in a plane crash where your friends die and you almost die is a traumatic experience and can either completely turn someone sober cold turkey, or send them towards substances to help with the post-traumatic stress. Perhaps you should look into trauma and realize that a lot of people turn to drugs or rapidly increase their drug use after a life and death experience to numb the pain and forget the images/sounds/feelings.
I think its heartless to say “no loss”, it was a loss, a celebrity that had an addiction, yes, but still a loss of a human life that was loved by many.
Just have some compassion for another human being, it doesnt mean you condone it, but it shows you have a heart.

Catherine.. You are a complete DOUCHE!! I hope karma doesn’t come back and take a loved one from you!! You would almost deserve it ya bitch!
DJ AM’s drugs of choice are a deadly combination that is killing many fine people lately. If you are experimenting with these drugs you need rehab. The only problem is many addicts want to have one last good high which ends up being their last. We at sober living by the sea are praying for those in addiction to find help now!
