Eddie Murphy, still basking in the glow of being relevant again, issued a statement through his rep that he wasn’t being huffy after losing the Oscar. He lost to Alan Arkin. Eddie’s camp says that he always meant to leave early anyway. Nice save, Ed.

“Eddie had always planned on leaving after his category was announced to spend the rest of the evening with his family,” says rep Arnold Robinson, adding, “He did the same thing following the Golden Globe Awards.” (Murphy did win at the Globes.)

The report went on to say that Murphy didn’t appear to be upset outside the theatre, as he was chatting up Harvey Weinstein. And looking for transvestite prostitutes. Just playin’.

I never watch those awards. All of that is fixed, they just decide oh… this year lets give it to this one… & not because the movie or the actor is the best.
