It’s certainly going to be weird seeing Elijah Wood doing comedy. I mean, I mostly consider or remember him from serious dramatic works, like The Good Son or The Ice Storm or those Tolkien movies that nobody saw.
The network is doing a U.S. remake of the hit Australian sitcom Wilfred. Have networks learned nothing from Absolutely Fabulous or Kath & Kim? The comedy isn’t the same. Everyone holds on to The Office as the one time a transplant worked and was successful.
The show revolves around a guy (Wood), a girl, and a mixed-breed dog named Wilfred, describes as “part Labrador retriever and part Russell Crowe on a bender.” Jason Gann, who co-created and starred in the Aussie version, will once again play the title role which means that at some point the dog will become human. Huh.
God speed, Elijah!
