Emily Blunt sat down with AMC News to give them a piece of her mind, addressing rumors that she forced her way into the title role in The Young Victoria and giving her “blunt” thoughts about Oscar buzz.
“It’s sort of a meat market, the whole awards thing, and I don’t think
you can predict it anymore — who’s going to like what you’ve done, if
it’s worthy or not,” an honest Blunt said, who recently took home the best artist prize at the BAFTA awards.
Blunt, pictured yesterday in London, also talked about her ballsy audition for the role.
“I had heard about the script, I knew there
would be a wave of women interested in it, so I got in there early and
asked [the producer] to give me a go. All I did was pitch it, ‘This is why I think
I can play her,’ and then he gave me the part.”
The young Brit, who is engaged to John Kransinski, will find out Tuesday if her risk paid off when Oscar nominations are announced.
