At a luncheon, last Wednesday in Washington Eva spoke to Latino leaders about supporting arts programs that feature Latino actors. Her speech cited friend Mario Lopez and a possible interest in a presidential candidacy. She started her push for support with a rather good point.

“I’m here today to announce my candidacy for president. … Oh, wrong speech! In the last two years, I’ve had an affair with the gardener and a teenager, I’ve faked a paternity test, my husband went to prison, and I threw him out of a window. I would probably win in California.”

Her political involvement doesn’t stop there. Back in 2004 she helped educate Latino leaders about candidates, participated in a bus tour and met with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. She also makes it a point to stay on top of current issues.

While I am far from being savvy in the area of politics, I believe Longoria might be a decent leader or at least a nice change from someone who can be distracted by a slinky.
