Fashion Disaster: Maya Rudolph

May 8th, 2007 // 2 Comments

It’s a slow fashion disaster day and being a mother of a 2 year old bambino is work. See if the Editors give her some slack after the jump.

Lisa: Truth be told, I actually think Maya Rudolph looks rather fetching in this pic. She’s a mom, and I don’t see any visible food stains on her clothes–and you can see those on me pretty much all the time–and I’m not a mother. I can barely take care of myself, much less coordinate cute outfits like this one.

J.Harvey: I can say no wrong about Miss Maya. She’s so goddamn funny, and does fantastic impersonations. The only reason I watch “Saturday Night Live” at all is for “Deep House Dish” and whenever Maya is on, I genuflect. When she played the chick who got the glowstick in the face from the tweaked-out drag queen and told us “Ms. Beginning Changes has a glass eye”, I did an actual spit-take. Fanny-pack! Gauchos! Pop swatch! No one’s going to get these references because nobody watches “Saturday Night Live” anymore, but whatevs. Maya can wear a dress made of intestines and I’d think she was hot. Fashion disaster? Try Fashion Rapture!

Cara: It must have been a slow day for the style crazies out there. This isn’t the best I have seen Maya look, but who can pick on a woman who (so accurately) portrays Donatella Versace on SNL. I mean seriously, talking to a sock puppet about “smoking cigarettes and looking gorgeous” gets a free pass. The mini baby doll dress is just a fad that I am jealous of. It I put one people would start asking me why my mumu was so short and suggest ointments for my cellulite.

    She’s a comedian, not a model…

I agree with Lisa and J. Harvey: it’s actually kind of cute, no better or no worse than what most people are wearing. Very retro-mod.

“This is my signature look….and I’m gonna’ wear it out”. Classic. I got the reference J. Harvey. I’m just always amazed at how good her singing voice actually is, especially when she does Beyonce on “The Prince Show”.
