If Jackie Chan can have his own beauty product line, then why can’t Tommy Lee can peddle tattoo-inspired clothing at Bloomies? Stranger things have happened.
The Mötley Crüe drummer has released a limited-edition line in the San Francisco Bloomingdales and has named his fashion love-child “TL for PL.” The t-shirts, jeans, hoodies, and hats are decorated with sections of Tommy’s tattoos. Stars, dragons and other creatures permanently etched on Tommy’s skin are visually represented throughout the entire collection. However, even though the clothing line is uniquely Tommy, it predictably started out as someone else’s idea. Danny Guez, who is the CEO of “People’s Liberation” initially approached Tommy to see if he wouldn’t be interested in a collaboration:
“To tell you the truth I met with Danny, and I didn’t really know what to think. We started talking and he’s just a super cool guy and he was like, ‘Why don’t you do something totally fun that’s inspired by your tattoos and make it you, make it totally you and personal? Yet also make it for just about anyone to wear.’ So we met a few times and started taking pictures of my tattoos and putting them on different places on the jeans and designing them. All of a sudden one day we were sitting there looking at a bunch of samples going, ‘Wow, this is cool!’
Lee doesn’t plan on stopping there either. Children’s clothes–as well as women’s shoes–are on the mind of the well endowed rocker. He explained that the shoes are “a whole other story” and that he “has a foot fetish.”
Sex-tape, reality show, and now fashion…why not? Frankly, I’m just surprised he hasn’t gone for the obvious. A line of condoms for “gifted” men.
