‘Funny People’ Take On Serious Subjects At L.A. Premiere

With a title like Funny People, it’s surprising to see that the latest film from 40-Year-Old Virgin director Judd Apatow branching out from his standard comedy fare.

But as the film’s star Eric Bana tells USA Today, “I think he’s a director who could direct great drama and he’s chosen to do comedy. With this one, he made a great film that is really, really funny as well.”

Although the film’s premise is quite serious–with Adam Sandler‘s main character diagnosed with a terminal illness–there’s no lack of laughter in the movie. Leslie Mann, who stars in Funny People, admits, “There was a lot of filth. Offensive filth, that wasn’t family friendly.”

Sounds like a good time was had by all.
