Clooney got some more affirmation. Like he needs it.

“BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. – For George Clooney, the awards just keep on comin’. In a year where he’s already received an Oscar and a Golden Globe, the actor-director-producer has just collected another trophy: the 2006 American Cinematheque Award.

“Basically, what it is, really, is a bunch of your friends who are gonna roast the hell out of you,” Clooney told AP Television before the Friday night event. “But when it’s done, you’re raising money to help American Cinematheque, which actually does some great things.”

This really is a slap in the face to ugly and poor people like me. Where are our awards? Seriously, I want absent famous friends to tape droll skits mocking my slight failures. I want Julia Roberts to laugh at my self-deprecation as I accept my award. I want to have sex with Scott Caan. What? That wasn’t part of the ceremony? Well, it damn well should have been.
