Gerard Butler joined co-stars James Nesbitt, Ralph Fiennes and Vanessa Redgrave for a special screening of Coriolanus, the film adaptation of William Shakespeare’s play. The stars – with the exception of Jessica Chastain – gathered at the Curzon Mayfair in London tonight (January 5th) for a VIP celebration of the flick, which Fiennes directed.
Butler and Fiennes’ characters are sworn enemies who must come together to take revenge on Rome. Butler plays the city’s banished hero, Tullus Aufidius.
“It was animal between us and we quickly got rid of a lot of the choreography of the fight and just went for it,” Butler told the Associated Press. “As if you could rip out somebody’s eyes and put your fist down their throat and rip out their lungs.”
