Serena van der Woodsen will soon have to say goodbye to her little brother.

Actor Connor Paolo, who plays Eric van der Woodsen on Gossip Girl, will be leaving his role as Blake Lively‘s brother to work on the new ABC series Revenge.

Paolo broke the news during the Television Critics Association press tour, after it was announced earlier this summer that two other original cast members, Taylor Momsen and Jessica Szohr, would not be returning for the show’s fifth season as well.

“Eric’s going to college and he’s going to stay there,” Us Weekly reports that Paolo said of his character, who was planning on attending Sarah Lawrence College at the end of last season. “He doesn’t come home for Christmas anymore.”Although he’ll be busy with Revenge, Paolo admitted that he’s unsure if he’ll be able to recur on Gossip Girl. “That’s a question for the creators of both shows,” he added.
