Before Gossip Girl‘s first season had even come to a close, rumors of a possible spinoff started forming. But now, after CW filmed the pilot starring Brittany Snow as a young Lily van der Woodsen in the 80s, it seems it was all for naught.

Nikke Finke is reporting that although the show was initially warmly received, the heat surrounding it quickly died until it was definitively killed yesterday afternoon.

Aww, that’s kind of sad. I was looking forward to a steady stream of retro fashions from the set. If I had some sort of gossip flag flying in my front yard, then I would lower it at half mast.
