Gossip Girl Spins Off?

UPDATE: E Online reports that Gossip Girl spinoff rumor is totally not true. “Contrary to the rumors and false reports breaking
in the tabloids, there is no approved concept and/or confirmation of a Gossip Girl spinoff at this time.”

If only Star magazine read this silly little gossip column we know called Watch With Kristin (check it out at kristin.eonline.com!),
they would know that the Rufus-and-Lily-as-young-rockers stuff was
never meant as a series concept, but rather was a pitch for the
Verizon-sponsored webisodes. And as executive producer Josh Schwartz first revealed to me a little while back, that concept was scrapped in favor of the upcoming Dorota webisodes! Holler.

Star is reporting that the CW is indeed producing a long-rumored spin-off to their fancy lad and heinous teen bitches soapfest Gossip Girl. But get this – it’s not going to be about any of the teens. It’s going to be about Rufus (Matthew Settle) and Lily! Huh? Granted, Kelly Rutherford was on Melrose Place as a hooker which was hot, but still. Wasn’t it supposed be about that irritating young girl who looks like a Tokio Hotel groupie (Taylor Momsen)?

“The show will focus on the early romance between Lily and Rufus,” says a source. “It begins when they first meet, during a time when Rufus
and his band are at the height of their career. The show will follow
the high society and rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle in New York.”

They’re going to hire new actors to play them in flashback.

Hmmm, that might be kinda dope. Wait, wasn’t he like in a Nickelback/Bon Jovi-type band? Forget that! They should do a punk-era/CBGB’s/Studio 54 type show. THAT I would watch. And it should be on HBO and star Courtney Love. And she should write the inexplicable, Xanax-induced dialouge. I should be a programming executive.
