Even though there was plenty to look at on the red-carpet, with the stellar stars of “Hairspray” all smiles in NYC, at a screening of their as-of-yet well-received musical, Katie Holmes still managed to get some attention by showing up conspicuously without her hubby in tow. Actually, it’s not really all that conspicuous, since he’s in Germany working on his latest film, but we love trying to stir up some drama, even when there’s none there. We’re so Life & Style that way. There were the obligatory murmurs of a possible baby bump on the young mother, but for all we know, she just happened to inhale some air at the wrong moment. But, it wasn’t just Katie at the premiere, as you can see from the LOADS of pictures we’ve got here from the event, including cast members of the movie, and a sure-fire crowd pleaser, Paula Abdul.

It’s obvious why she was allowed to go somewhere by herself. Fellow Scientologist John Travolta was there to sedate her and cart her off if she tried anything.
