Harvey Weinstein is upset about the ugly opening weekend numbers of “Grindhouse”, and he’s planning on re-releasing each half of the 3 hour+ film separately. Chill, baby! All my bitches have seen it and LOVED it. I’m going this week. Let word of mouth spread. You’ll get there. People in the Midwest need to be taken out of their reality into a nicer one with zombies and stunt car driving serial killers. It’ll happen.
HARVEY Weinstein is so disappointed in the $11.6 million opening weekend gross for “Grindhouse” – the three-hour-plus double-feature directed by Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez – he’s considering re-releasing each film, “Death Proof” and “Planet Terror,” separately in longer versions, the way they’ll play in foreign markets and on DVD. “I don’t think people understood what we were doing,” Weinstein told Page Six. “The audience didn’t get the idea that it is two movies for the price of one. I don’t understand the math, but I want to accommodate the audience.” He said the main deterrent to ticket buyers is the length, which “becomes a time commitment.”
Everyone I know who has seen this flick loved it. So get out there and see it, so Hollywood knows it can afford to take chances like this as opposed to shoving “Little Black Book” and “Blades of Glory” down past our uvulas. And yes, this is coming from the guy who recommended “The King of Queens” yesterday. What? He’s hot. Did you EVER get the impression I WASN’T shallow?

I agree, there is no need to rerelease. the movie rocked. someone should re release kill bill as One film. oh well.
There is no need to reformat the movie. I’m going to go see it and I know a lot of other people who plan to as well. Its not our fault some idiot decided to release it Easter weekend, one of the biggest kid/family holidays. I know I for one wasn’t about to sneak out on my kids to watch a movie, and I certainly wouldn’t let them see a flick which such a hard R rating.
J. Harvey, the midwest has witnessed a number of actual and quite heinous serial murderers so there’s no need for a shift in reality for most of us.
Why on earth would anyone pay 10 bucks to sit through 3 hours – or even 1 1/2 hours – of the same trash we can see on the news every night for free? What, are we running out of serial killers or something?
I saw Blades of Glory on Sunday and it was non-stop laughter from beginning to end and I’ll pay another 10 bucks to see it again. Sure, it was a silly Wil Ferrell movie and the ending scene was the cheesiest thing ever filmed, but these days, you need every laugh you can get.
Boycott horror!
Hey now, I live in the midwest and plan on seeing Grindhouse this weekend! Right after I feed the chickens, I will hop into my buggy and hit the local theater.
Big Rosie-
One word: zombies.
This was quite honestly one of the few movies I’ve ever felt really has to be seen in the theater. Most of the crap that gets put out isn’t worthy of the big screen, but this movie needs that atmosphere. It’s not some great work of art, but I do feel sorry for anyone who doesn’t get a chance to see it until it comes out on video.
You’re gonna LOVE it, J. Fuck the haters.
Ah, the difference between the east & west coast. This movie has a (deservedly) terrible rep in NYC. I went on Sunday and people were walking out. wish i’d done the same…
“Boycott horror!”
You’re an idiot. Be sure to tell us if there are any books that don’t meet with your approval too, in case we can help you burn them.
When I want to watch comedy, I watch it. When I want to watch horror, I watch that, and it can be a fantastically funny, scary, and/or exciting escape from daily routine.
Anyone who thinks that the stuff on the news is the same thing, is just woefully unacquainted with good horror stories.
I personally can’t wait to see this film, and it has been a long time since I have been bothered to go to a cinema, since what we mostly get these days is shithouse remakes of excellent old films.
I’m on the East Coast (Va Beach) and my wife and I loved it. Great movie, and Zoe Bell was the breakout star of it…She Rocked!!
