This is a divorce case for the history books. All old men might want to re-think jumping into bed with women younger than their children approximately five minutes after their wives die. Linda died in 1998 and Paul took up with Heather in 1999. Pretty much everyone knew that nothing good would come of it. Now he’s paying. Hopefully, he won’t do it again.

I love how she thinks that the judge, who in any normal divorce proceeding would have had fistfuls of every possible kind of income documentation, was wrong about how much Paul had because EEEEVERYONE KNOWS he has twice as much. Maybe she could take that money and buy herself a house in Reality.

Considering how much he is worth, and the fact that there was no pre-nup, I think he did well. 30 million pounds? If he is really worth 800 million pounds, then she only got 3.75% of his fortune. If he is “only” worth 400, then she got 7.5% of it. YES she got alot of money, but in the big picture, it was probably worth every penny to get her out of his life.

Its really difficult not to loathe her, Loob. She’s a one-woman dog and pony show. I feel for her daughter-was hoping Paul would some how wrangle custody…

People, this is called THE LAW. 50/50 in the case of a divorce. Done. Settled. She should have gotten much more, actually. Paul McCartney KNEW what a divorce would mean before he got married. He cannot weasel out now. A deal is a deal. If you do not think that your spouse deserves half of your entire life’s work, DO NOT GET MARRIED.

What is English law for divorce settlements? I am pretty sure that it is not “the spouse gets nothing”. Sorry. When you divorce, you have to pay. Maybe he should have thought of that before marrying a person that will bring .00001% of their combined financial profit into a marriage?

I was just reading, with some cheer, that Paul wasn’t quite as dumb as we all thought. He put off releasing some material, including a sure-to-be-hit boxed Wings set, to keep Heather from profiting. NYsailorscout-One of my biggest pet peeves is people talking about the law when they have no clue what they are talking about. It’s clear you’re not a lawyer nor someone who even took the time to look up the law or the facts of the case.

Getting 50/50 after a divorce is NOT the law everywhere, as someone already pointed out. In fact, in the U.S. you automatically get 50% of the community assets after a divorce ONLY in community property states and there are only 9 states that are community property states in the entire country. And I doubt very much that England follows community property law because if it did, then Mills would have received 50% of the community property. And if you could actually do math, you would see that she did not get anywhere near 50%.

There is a place for people who willfully break the law (no matter what the law is.) It is called jail.

The 50% number is not the point. I am happy to admit if I am incorrect on that number. The point is that she was right to demand what was legally hers. The salesman can be as cheap as he/she wants. Both sides of the transaction are responsible for their actions, no matter how sad or how old.
