Emma Watson, the chick who plays Hermione in those bollocky Harry Potter flicks, is reportedly tired of playing second fiddle to some geek magician. Everyone in my immediate universe is gaga over these films and books, including The Boyfriend. I don’t feel it. And I like superheroes and Hobbits. Maybe because the kids aren’t cute. They’re not. They’re pasty and look to grow into pasty adults. Put some hot American children in there, like that little kid who lip-synchs “Irreplaceable”. I bet he could wield a mean wand.
Movie studio Warner Bros have played down reports Harry Potter star Emma Watson is quitting the film franchise, insisting they are “extremely confident” she will continue to play Hermione Granger. British newspaper News Of The World quoted the 16-year-old’s Potter co-star Rupert Grint as saying, “Emma doesn’t want to do it any more. She’s tired of being known as ‘that girl from Harry Potter’.” However, a spokesperson for producers Warner Bros says, “We’re extremely confident that Emma will be back for films six and seven.” Filming for the sixth movie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, is scheduled to begin later this year.
Part of me does want to relay to Ms. Watson that without these films, her ass would be playing back-up on Eastenders or selling walking tours of London. She ain’t all that and a bag of fish and chips if ya know what I mean. Oh, and “Rupert Grint”? That’s harsh. What kind of parent puts that on a child? Why not just name him “Debbie Lipshitz”?

Has anyone else watched the films(especially the last one) and noticed that this chick straight up can’t act? I mean, she sucked in the last film. Good riddance if she leaves. And seriously, what would she do if she did quit? Well, I hear the Gap is always hiring.

Agreed. This is the only thing she’s know for and what made her famous. She’d be cutting off her nose to spite her face if she left…
If they can replace someone as talented as Richard Harris, they can replace pretty much any of the cast outside of Daniel himself.
(i do have a soft spot in my heart for Daniel and Rupert though!)

agreed, too.
there’s this one scene in the last film where she is moving her eyebrows in an attempt to act but just comes across like an idiot. she really should pray they sign her on for 2 more movies because she isn’t acting anytime soon after the films end production.

Where’s her agent (or her parents) when she’s going through her teen-angst phase? Hello, she auditioned for the role, right? Meaning she wanrted to be an actress.
Remind her she’ll be able to live comfortably for a long time on her salary from the last 2 movies.

KIDS! So fickle, so ungrateful. Be careful what you wish for, Emma.

Let me get this straight? She has been in four movies (with the 5th coming out in July) playing a significant role in one of the top selling book and film franchises in all time? She is getting paid more money than most seventeen year olds will ever see in their lifetime and she is afraid of being typcasted?
Mmmm? I guess no one told her that acting jobs are sometimes difficult to get.

Maybe she doesn’t want to be an actor and took the role just to please her parents. She’s smart, has gotten good grades and, god forbid, wants to go to university. What a freak!

The story of her leaving and the Rupert Grint quote came from a tabloid. The story that she’s expected to stay came from Warner Brothers…who do you think we should believe?
God bless

I agree with sassymommy. Let her leave. Someone much more talented should have the role anyway. It’s the role of a lifetime and they will forever be typecast, but they’re also getting more for making one film at 16 than some regular folks will ever make. she cannot act and makes me dislike Hermione.
Legs | March 19, 2007 at 11:45 pm
She could always break out of the typecast by having sex with a horse on stage………

I guess having nutjob Harry Potter fans turning up at your school and harassing during a lecture will tend to put a girl off the spotlight somewhat.
QuitWhining | March 20, 2007 at 4:33 pm
ugh! ya, it must suck to be a famous, rich, beautiful 16 year old girl!
SHUT UP!!!
Loob | March 21, 2007 at 4:02 am
Yes, she seriously cannot act.
She should be gobsmacked and tearfully grateful that they have actually continued to call her!
If I was her, I would have expected my phone to grow cobwebs after the first film.

Um…This information is false. It was said in Entertainment Weekly that Emma Watson is most definitely returning for the last two movies and, in my opinion, anyone who bad-mouths her is just jealous of her talent and fame. And she isn’t some “prissy British girl” as you people are implying that she is. She just happened to get the part of Hermione Granger on luck and from the start, she didn’t even like her role. So you guys need to stop with all the rude remarks.

Yeah, Emma can’t act so it’s laughable whenever teen or guy mags give her awards but I think she’s pretty and I like Rupert’s name. The Grint part is really manly.
Carmen | June 30, 2007 at 2:59 pm
I also think Rupert’s very sexy so the name doesn’t matter. I do agree that they all look a little pasty at times though. It must be the weather.
