In response to what she anticipates will be an issue surrrounding her latest role as high school teacher who encourages her inner-city students to savor their education, Hilary Swank has decided to go ahead and address the fact that she is a high-school dropout. From MSNBC:
“I’m not proud to say I’m a high-school dropout,” admitted Swank. “I’m not proud that that’s something that happened, but it happened. I think school is really, really important and we have an education problem in this country and it’s a shame. It’s a shame for any kid to feel hopeless about their future.”
Maybe if Hilary had stayed in school and graduated college like I did, she could be living my life. And blogging about a different high-school dropout actress who makes millions more than she does. That wouldn’t make her at all bitter.
Hilary Swank was too cool for school [MSNBC]

big surprise. those teeth, that hair – no matter what girlfriend does she looks like trailor trash because she is
ughhh- i hate her. stringy, greasy bangs and those snaggleteeth… *shiver*
I have two University degrees and the other day I heard Hilary Swank being interviewed, and she was simply on another level than the interviewer from the Today show – - – a higher level of eloquence, elegance and general understanding. I do not admire her decision not to complete H.S., but I do admire the woman she has become; sophisticated, generous, gracious and giving to the public. She has a lot to offer, and the advice she quoted from her mother (i.e. “Always believe in yourself”), though trite, struck a chord with me – - because the day before I had been let go by my new supervisor. College drop-out or not – - she had an impact for me and has done well for herself.
I meant high school drop-out. Oops.
High School is easy, it’s life that is a challenge to figure out.
