Howard Stern Blasts Gabourey Sidibe For Her Weight

March 9th, 2010 // 15 Comments

Shame, shame, shame. Howard Stern had some harsh words for Oscar nominee Gabourey Sibide in a show of just plain bad taste on his radio show Monday.

“There’s the most enormous, fat black chick I’ve ever seen. She is
enormous. Everyone’s pretending she’s a part of show business and she’s
never going to be in another movie,” he said. “She should have gotten
the Best Actress award because she’s never going to have another shot.
What movie is she gonna be in?”

It’s clear Stern did not see Precious, in which Sidibe, who in interviews proves bubbly, bright and not at all like the character she portrays, makes a stunning transformation into a troubled, depressed teenage mother.

Stern was responding to Sidibe’s Oscar nomination alongside star actresses like Meryl Streep as well as Oprah‘s accolades for her at the ceremony.

“Oprah’s another liar, a filthy liar,” said Stern. “She’s telling an
enormous woman the size of a planet that she’s going to have a career.”

Well if insulting one of America’s most beloved success stories in recent memory didn’t get enough people to hate you, bashing Oprah always helps!

Poor Gabourey. The world needs to get over her weight and accept characters of all sizes.

Stern attended a screening with Beth Ostrosky Stern of ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’ at on Nov. 11 in New York City.

As much as Stern is a jerk for saying stuff like that, I do wonder how much Hollywood will actually embrace her? Or is she just a charity case right now?

She is really a great actor but what type of roles will there actually be for her? Thats not her fault, its the system.

Its weird. A thin actress puts on 5kg and they are all over her, but Gaboureys weight is taboo.

Well I guess all you can do is hope things turn out well for her and she does have the ‘cinderella’ thing…

He only stated what all of us are thinking.

Oh shut up, you know he’s right (even though I hate his guts). What other role can she play other than “victimized ghetto pig”? Just look at that engorged face, it looks like it’s going to burst any second.

Only in America could morbid obesity be considered anything other than a serious health problem and a shame on whoever’s been feeding this young lady. I cannot see it as a cause to celebrate.

That’s whats wrong with the people in the world today, we are always trying to judge and talk about one another. Ms. Sidibe was created by GOD, just as all of us. Mr. Stern has no compassion for human beings feelings. We should be careful as to what we say about others. That is why children suffer from low self esteem, they grow into adults who suffer from low self esteem. Because other’s have teased them because of the way they look. Stop being so damn MEAN!!

haha love how people bring god into it. Being the size of a couch should not be encouraged anymore than being anorexic. Yet the obese tell themselves and others to “embrace it”. Wonder if the backlash could have something to do with the fact that 30% of the population is obese?

Guess what, lying to a fat person and saying that it’s “ok” is far more damaging than ignoring it and having them die of a heart attack or stroke. Tee is a murderer.

He’s right you dumbshits, and because he’s not afraid to tell the truth, people get offended

“Created by GOD”: You enjoy your little fairytale. I was created buy Batman or the Smurfs.

And she is super obese like most of you Walmart shopping chumps.

I wish here the best of luck but honestly lose some weight for your health.

What is Stern talking about? I heard she will be joining “Gossip Girl” as the sexy new siren. And she will also be co-starring with Gerard Butler in a romantic comedy, not to mention she is set to play “Wonder Woman”.

Hollywood always is open to bringing in large women to play lead roles. We see it all the time. The CW Network is filled with X-large women, not to mention–look how they cast reality shows!

Reality shows are filled with X-Large women trying to find their dream man, compete for record contracts, and race around the world.

Remember that season of “America’s Top Model” when that one model was 130 lbs?!! Sure, they referred to her as the “XL Model”, and sure she was eliminated I believe 4th out of 12; but man, did they say how beautiful she was many times.

I just feel sorry for the real victims: thin, blond White women. I would challenge anybody to name me 406 movies that will star a thin, blond White woman THIS year!

    Man, Stern is so wrong!

Hoo-Hoo Howie is right. why does every black actress in hollywood have to be the sassy 300+ pounds behemoth?

as for being “created by god” – she may have been created by god (that’s debateable), but she was refined and perfected by McDonalds, Frito-Lay and Hostess.

  13. J | March 12, 2010 at 12:11 pm

It’s sad to watch everyone tell her she is beautiful and attractive when they interview her. They try to be so nice and it just sucks to watch people overcompensate for not wanting to state the obvious. She’s huge, yes, talented, i guess, but do we really want this kind of morbid obesity to be an acceptable form of behavior? No. Yeah she did a good job in a movie, but lets be realistic, shes 15 years away from major health issues, and it would be in her best interest to lose some weight. Hell I was 30lbs over weight and my Doc was all concerned for me, imagine what is going on with her. No one is denying her talent, but by kidding her or ourselves that she has a bright future as an actress is just blowing more smoke up her, and our own, ass. As for the God bashing Sam, I’m glad you are excercising your God given ability of Free-will.

Great actor my ass!!! “Oooh She play a fat black chick with self esteem problems”. WATEVER, But the article has a point, she is not like her character, I actually like her character better! Cuz in real life she’s arrogant and brash and annoying and delusional to think she gonna actually get more work like “Precious” I do think she’s nothing but a charity case!

  15. blahblahblah | March 12, 2010 at 11:19 pm

Howard Stern has made hundreds of millions if not over a billion dollars acting like he has no class, yet you people do it for free.He would make fun of your sorry asses as well. And watch something besides internet porn every now and then and then you would appreciate her acting ability. And yes she should lose some weight for several reasons.Tell your mother i said Oink Oink ,she’ll know what you mean.
