At least it was a furry friend and not some crazed fan.

Hugh Jackman was photographed after his workout, today in New York City. Upon leaving the gym, he pets a dog and gets licked by the little pup.

No word on how Hugh Jackman feels about the fact that director Darren Aronofsky has dropped out of his Wolverine film.

In a statement issued by the studio, Aronofsky said:

“It became clear that the production of The Wolverine would keep me out of the country for almost a year. I was not comfortable being away from my family for that length of time. I am sad that I won’t be able to see the project through,” continued Aronofsky, “as it is a terrific script and I was very much looking forward to working with my friend, Hugh Jackman, again.”
