Ian Somerhalder is becoming one of Hollywood’s biggest animal rights advocates. The Vampire Diaries star is speaking out against the highly-publicized murders of over 100 sled dogs in British Columbia and wants to immediately put it to a stop through the recently established Ian Somerhalder Foundation.
The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act in BC does not fully protect these animals.
“The laws must be changed to accommodate the fact that individuals who even consider this type of behavior understand that it’s an attack against life itself and shall not be tolerated,” Somerhalder said, pictured at the New York City studios of Live! With Regis and Kelly today.
Through his foundation, the actor created a petition on Change.org calling for BC to reform their animal cruelty laws. Over 4,500 people have signed.
