This has been a bummer of a weekend. We recently learned that Bernie Mac’s fans, friends and family lost the comedian to pneumonia. And now, we’ve lost another legend to what appear to be natural causes.
65-year-old actor Isaac Hayes sang the “Theme from Shaft,” winning both an Oscar and a Grammy for the 1971 soundtrack theme. Hayes was found in his home near a running treadmill by a relative. Unresponsive, he was taken to the Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, where he was pronounced dead.
A history of high blood pressure plagued the South Park actor, who suffered a mild stroke in January 2006. It’s not believed that there was any foul play involved.
Hayes and his trademark voice will be sorely missed.

Has anyone else noticed that both he and Bernie Mac just finished the movie “Soul Men” together? Watch out Samuel L. Jackson!
