It’s Official

Barbara Walters officially announced Whoopi Goldberg as Rosie’s replacement today. She will start in the fall. I still think Courtney Love would have been tremendous, but they would have had to hire someone to be in charge of rousing her between commerical breaks.

“I have known Whoopi for years,” Walters said in a statement released today. “She is brilliant, funny and irrepressible, and is an enormously popular and talented star. We are delighted that she is going to join the program as our moderator. This is going to be a great new chapter for ‘The View.’”

Whoopi will do fine. She’ll probably be a little less touchy than Rosie, but I still can’t see her having a problem with jumping ugly on Hasselbeck now and then. It’s actually a good thing that they’re keep Hasselbeck, otherwise this should would be twitless and not as interesting.

yeah, cause we all know that anyone in this country that has even a little bit of a conservative point of view on anything is a stupid doo-doo head, right?

Hasselbeck takes a lot of crap for her views. She is a very strong lady for being able to continue to stand up for what she believes in.

Often I think she makes very good points and he views are just wildly blow out of proportion by extreme liberalist looking for controversy.

more like hasselbeck was using the “extreme liberalist” to promote herself. face it, if rosie had not been on that show, people would continue to not pay attention to hasselbeck. if hasselbeck didn’t have her producers feeding her information she’d have nothing to say. i wish the show would bring in an informed conservative instead of having a screeching hasselbeck parroting what others have told her to say. she’s pathetic. have a nice day!

My sentiments exactly, oerigfnr. Any time someone espouses a conservative point of view they are painted as uneducated or just an idiot in general. If Rosie was the left wing’s idea of a “strong, intelligent woman” then there is certainly no point in debating them on Hasselbeck. Should I have just placed the word “woman” in quotes in the previous sentence? Ride Lo.

I was able to love Rosie, and I am still able love Elisabeth. Take away the political views and both are really good people who care about others. Rosie is sensitive and Elisabeth is not so much. Who has higher self esteem? Without a doubt, Elisabeth, but that doesn’t make her better than Rosie.

We need to stop judging people so harshly.

People like Elisabeth who are seen as goody-goodies will always get picked on by people who are more liberal or who have a lot of “past.” It’s that way on the playground, and it’s that way with adults. For some reason, people who are for “good, clean things” irritate people. They don’t have to do anything drastic or terribly offensive. Many times, they mind their own business, but their appearance and positive outlook brings out a lot of jealousy and resentment in people who have suffered.
