Since Janet Jackson knew she had the opening of the 2009 American Music Awards resting on her shoulders, it should come as no surprise that she donned a pair of metallic shoulder pads for the occasion.

Miss Jackson (cause I’m nasty) let her hair down and flaunted her girls in a low-cut light brown suede ensemble that kept the pop star relatively covered up, save for a hefty slice of cleavage.

When she wasn’t gritting her teeth, she flashed her trademark smile after a performance well-done. Here’s to Janet!
