Actor-Slash-Singer Jared Leto doesn’t like to talk alot about his personal life, but there’s one story he doesn’t mind sharing, especially now. E!‘s Marc Malkin wrote about Leto’s time in Haiti as a youngster and his band’s do-goodership (it’s a new word).
Leto was 12 when he spent a year in Haiti. His mother helped run two medical clinics before returning to the states. Leto had nothing but good things to say about the people he met.
”They have such a strong spirit and a wonderful culture and joy even in
the midst of all the struggles they have gone through,” Leto said.
Leto’s band, 30 Seconds To Mars, is auctioning off tickets to one of its shows, including backstage passes and dinner with the band on Ebay. Bidding was at $13,000 as of this afternoon.
Leto also participated in Larry King‘s “Haiti: How You Can Help” telethon that took place on January 18th.
There are a bunch of ways you can donate. One way is through the American Red Cross. Let’s help out our global neighbors, shall we?
