Jason Statham Communes With Bank Robber For Film Research

March 4th, 2008 // 6 Comments

Jason Statham, you know – British, hunky, picks really bad movies to star in, got some excellent research done for his latest film “The Bank Job”. The flick is based on a real life bank robbery that took place in Britain in the 1970′s. Statham says that one of the actual thieves, who was never caught, visited the set. Way to remain inconspicuous, guy.

“We were very lucky. One of the chaps came to the set. We tried to keep his identity undercover. He didn’t want to glamorize himself. A lot of people thought he was my dad coming for a set visit. Remarkably he looked a lot like me. He told us some great stories about the day,” Statham says. Way to enable crime, Jay.

British authorities banned the media from reporting on the crime, which took place at a central London bank in 1971. And now they get to visit movie sets without fear of arrest? Is this like one of those things where you burn down your house to get the insurance money?

You do realize that there is a time limit for prosecution of most crimes. Its been almost 40 years since the crime, so I don’t think they could do anything to these guys, even if they danced on TV rubbing the money all over their body screaming “I did it, I did it!” I think murder is the only crime that can be prosecuted indefinitely.

You’re right, Sara. It’s called statute of limitations. Oh, and I so heart Jason Statham. Being someone who’s balding, I can realistically fantasize (talk about an oxymoron) about only other balding men, and he is one sexy beast.

That’s what it’s called. I couldn’t think of the expression “statute of limitations.” I was trying so hard to think of synonyms. I love you now

I f it’s the bank job I think it was, bearing in mind I missed the tv showing recently, 27/06/2008 on Film 24, (can you tell me when / if it will be repeated), I would love to know who the “Chap” was that gave Mr Statham the insight to his role, my surname should give him a clue to who I am if his research was so good

  5. Paul

Unfortunatley I missed the film when it was shown on
    Film 24,(27/06/2008)

If it was regarding one of the bank robberies I think it was (Ilford ? / Wembley ?)

I would like to ask if you know when it will be aired again ?, I would also love to know who the “chap” was that gave Mr Statham his insight, if the insight given to him was so good he will know by my surname who I might be
