It seems that repeatedly sharing top ten spots on the Forbes list and hitting the campaign trail for Barack Obama formed a fast friendship between talk show host, Oprah Winfrey, and rap mogul, Jay-Z. As evidence of their newfound buddy-buddy status, Jay-Z sat down with Ms. Winfrey for an interview in the October 2009 issue of O magazine.
Winfrey quizzed the music producer about his humble beginnings as a 13-year-old crack drug dealer. As he explains, “If anyone made it, you never knew it. That’s why I’ve always said that if I became successful, I’d come back here, grab somebody, and show him how it can be done.”
As she did with his better half, Beyonce Knowles, Oprah pressed Jay to discuss his relationship with his wife, which the rap star deftly deflected by saying, “When you’re a public person, you have to keep some things to yourself…”
Now, even though I’m sure this was a great little chat between two multi-media power players, I still doubt Jay managed to bump the all-powerful O from the cover. Better luck next time, Hova!
