Jennifer Lawrence was a “huge fan” of The Hunger Games, even before she was cast as Katniss Everdeen. “I was a huge fan of the books before I even really knew about the movies,” she told MTV News. “I met with [director] Gary Ross, and we had a very long, nice meeting before the audition,” she explained. “And then by the time the audition came around, we were familiar with each other.”
Production on the film is already underway in North Carolina. Lawrence was spotted yesterday on the set along with co-stars Liam Hemsworth, Willow Shields, McKenzie Lintz, and Suzanne Collins. She’s done some intense training thus far to prepare for her role, including archery, rock and tree climbing, and “vaulting.” She’s even doing yoga to remain “catlike.” We can’t wait to see this movie.
Lawrence wasn’t aware that fans of the book weren’t happy with her initially. It wasn’t about her acting chops, but more about her hair. “I wasn’t aware that everybody was so upset until I after I got my hair dyed, and people were like, ‘Oh my gosh, blond hair can turn brown. Wow. It’s a miracle,’” Lawrence explained. “So now is the only time that I’m being told that people hated me at first.”
