Jennifer Hudson Has It Her Way

Jennifer Hudson made a snarky comment about Burger King in relation to being criticized for not thanking American Idol in her Oscar acceptance speech. Burger King has now awarded her free burgers for life . FOR LIFE. Does this mean she can walk into a Burger King in Xtul, Mexico, plop her Honorary Burger Queen card on the counter and start chowing? If Burger King didn’t taste like you ate death a half-hour later, I might think this was a hot prize.

Hudson reacted to Simon Cowell’s criticism of her for not thanking “American Idol” in her Oscar speech. She reportedly snapped back, “If I’d been any better at my job when I was at Burger King in my middle teens, I wouldn’t be here either, so should I thank them, too?” Hudson worked at the BK on East 87th and State Street in Chicago. Burger King was her first job at age 16, where she worked with her sister, who claims she sang while working the drive-thru and flipping burgers.

Read on to see what Burger King has to say, and see more photos of Jennifer, after the jump.

“…In response to Jennifer’s recent comments in which she asked if she should be thanking Burger King, we say thanks, but no thanks are necessary. Burger King Corporation is proud of Jennifer’s success and while we never like to lose employees, in this case, our loss is the entertainment industry’s gain … To further show our support for Jennifer, and make sure she never has to sing for her supper again, Burger King Corporation is giving her a pre-paid BK Crown Card that will be automatically reloaded for life.”

If this was one of those things where the celeb gets paid for name-dropping the company, than I officially hate her. She’d better hide her purse, there are some ten year olds and homeless people who will cut her ass to get that card. WHOPPER JRS. FOR LIFE.

    She’s really becoming an a-wipe.

  2. tee

Yeah, i see myself getting bored of her quickly. is her five minutes up yet?

  3. Three Free Burgers for life, I would think that 3 diet pills for life would have been better!

  4. AMRS

Recovered meat makes the world go ’round.

  5. Randi

…and Burger King is now facing bankruptcy.

  6. Randi

10 years from now when she’s established herself as a nobody her kids are going to be saying “Aww Mom, not Burger King again!”

Oh please! I don’t blame her, the judges treated her like crap on American Idol! What is she to thank them for? For saying she didn’t deserve to be there? That she over sings? That she’s a bad dresser? Now all of a sudden they want credit for what she’s accomplished without them. Simon in particular was NOT a fan of hers, somehow he’s forgotten some of the awful things he said to her. I just couldn’t understand for the life of me why he was so hard on her. Good for you, Jennifer, thank the fans… but screw American Idol.

Jennifer-two thumbs up girl! I do not watch American Idol, because I hate all of the judges and most of the talent borders on psychotic.I have gone back and watched Jennifer and she truly has talent. As for Simon ,where else could a dickhead like him make such a huge paycheck! Simon needs a good asskicking to bring him back down from his self appointed lofty perch! Greg

She looks absolutely gorgeous in that picture!!!

Nobody forced her to go on American Idol. She does not have to thank the judges specifically, but she could at least thank the show for giving her the exposure that got her noticed for Dreamgirls. No American Idol – No Dreamgirls. I don’t think Burger King has much relevance in putting her on her career path in the entertainment industry other than being an experience in her life. She doesn’t have to thank American Idol for the rest of her life, but it would have been appropriate to, if not thank, at least acknowledge the experience, like any other acknowledgement that got her there. A thanks is not too much to ask or expect.

B*t*h. Sorry, but it it hadn’t been for American Idol SHE’D STILL BE WORKING AT BURGER KING.

I hate these ingrateful rich butts who think they got somewhere all by themselves and they are so so special for having done it.

No one gets anywhere totally alone and they would all do well to remember it.

  12. Tonysgirl

    Does that include FRIES!!!!

  13. Why should she thank AI, and particularly Simon Cowell, for telling her “she’s out of her league”…look who is laughing now. I can’t stand people who take the credit for someone’s hard work and determination…”Oh, she never would have gotten anywhere without me”…fuck that. She doesn’t owe them a damn thing, they didn’t give her anything much but put-downs.

  14. dgo

Wow, she has offically made it. People are now hating on her for her comments. At least she’s no hilton ho with nothing to contribute but panty crickets. I say go on girl, milk this for all it’s worth!!

  15. lee

Why hate on Jennifer? What she said made total sense. And Simon was a turd to her, so why shouldn’t she feel that way? She is ruling right now. But she better be warned of the supporting actress curse and the sophmore curse. But I HEART Jennifer.

  16. It’s a pretty bold assumption that Jennifer wouldn’t have landed that part in Dreamgirls without appearing on American Idol. Dreamgirls put out a nationwide casting call for Effie and who’s to say she wouldn’t have been cast anyway? As it was, she was right for the part, wrong for the part, no chance for the part, and finally, congratulations, you’re Effie White. She’d also met the musical’s songwriter a few years ago in New York and they hit it off quite well from published reports.

How on earth did AI help her in that mess of an audition process? Perhaps her experience helped, but lest we forget, her talent got her onto American Idol in the first place.

And at the NAACP Image Awards (prestigious as they are, the Oscars ain’t the only show in town), Jennifer thanked Randy for making her his wildcard into the finals. She gave credit where credit was due. Simon deserved none of it.

  17. Kev

OK, Simon bashed her every chance he got- and then demands that she thank him?! I wouldn’t have thanked Idol either
