A public memorial service was held on Sunday night for the slain members of Jennifer Hudson’s family in Chicago.
Darnell Donerson, Jason Hudson and Julian King were remembered by friends and family at the Pleasant Gift Missionary Baptist Church
“Julian was a role model, an academic whiz and a best friend,” Carmen Williams, Jennifer Hudson’s seven-year-old nephew’s second grade teacher, said. “You could look into his eyes and you knew he always had the
right answer.”
“They are all in Heaven having a ‘hallelujah good time,’ ” the Rev. Quentin Washington said. “Their lives … were not in vain. Their legacies live on.”
The bodies of Hudson’s mother and brother were discovered on Oct. 24. Nephew Julian King’s body was found five days later. A suspect, William “Flex” Balfour, is in custody but has not been charged.

I can feel your pain because I to am a survivor of a robbery where my husband was killed infront of me. On March 31, 2005 my husband and I were armed robbed by two ex-cons who only been out of prison for two weeks. My husband and I were held up at gun point and my husband was killed infront of me in the robbery. It has been almost four years later and if it wasnt for God, family and friends I dont know how I could or was able to continue on. You keep your faith, strength and please continue to eat and try to sleep. If you need a doctors attention please get it. It gets worse before it gets better. But you keep your head up and dont worry about what people say because they are going to say regardless. I speak from being a survivor of a tragic KEEP YOUR FAITH AND YOUR HEAD UP. I was traumitized for 2 1/2 years. This year is my first year I havent lost it. My heart and prayers are out to your whole family, city and friends.
