In a perfect example of C-list emulating the A-list, the twinky guy who mowed Eva Longoria’s lawn on Desperate Housewives had entered rehab .
On the heels of Britney Spears’ release from the Promises clinic, Hollywood hunk Jesse Metcalfe checked himself in to an undisclosed rehab center for alcohol abuse this week, a rep for the star confirmed. This decision was made Monday, the day before Page Six broke the story of Metcalfe’s weekend-long binge at the Mondrian hotel in L.A., where sources reported he looked like he hadn’t slept in days and was acting “very angry” and “out of control.” Now, Metcalfe’s rep has sent us the following statement: “On Monday, March 19, Jesse Metcalfe entered a rehab facility to deal with alcohol issues. He realized he had a problem and was anxious to deal with it immediately. The actor, best known as the hunky gardener on the ABC show ‘Desperate Housewives’ and the star of the film ‘John Tucker Must Die,’ hopes that the media will allow him the privacy to deal properly with his treatment.”
At least his crash-n-burn was quick, and he wasn’t shaving his legs in a wig by the hotel pool. This story makes me want to give props to Tara Reid. She doesn’t get enough credit for starting this celebrity meltdown trend. She was exposing body parts, and falling down on the red carpet before any of these other goofs. Plus, she’s never gone into rehab! She’s going strong! My hat’s off to her.

It is so frustrating how entering “rehab” completely absolves the celebrity (and I use that term loosely) of having to take any responsibility for their actions.

i don’t understand why these people issue press releases re: their private lives, and then ask that the public “respect [their] privacy!” who would know about this if he didn’t announce it? who would care?
