After the public announcement of Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz’s engagement, Jessica and Papa Joe both announced their approval of the soon-to-be-wedded couple.

‘My sister is overflowing with joy,’ said Jessica. ‘Pete is an incredible soul. They naturally bring out the best in each other. I couldn’t be happier.’

Overbearing father Joe, who is in Augusta, GA for the Masters gold tournament with Jessica’s boyfriend Tony Romo also voiced his satisfaction with the couple’s new status.

‘[Pete] did ask me. I told him that I would be honored to have him as part of my family.’

I have a feeling that Joe is ready to let some other guy worry about his little Ashlee’s career.

It’s about time for him to get Jessica back in the media for something more than being a football curse.
