Even if it weren’t already common knowledge what the origin of Victoria and David Beckham‘s son Brooklyn was, it’s pretty easy to surmise. And now, the high-profile couple have admitted that their son Cruz Beckham was named after a movie star, who is a close friend of theirs.
Becks confessed to the author of The Beckham Experiment, Grant Wahl, “I must admit, when (Victoria and I) met Tom [Cruise], I remember turning around to Victoria and saying, ‘Cruise is a great name, but we could spell it different.’ “
David added, “And also, living in Spain, Cruz is spelled the way it is in Spanish. So that’s why we got it.” And that’s convenient, since these world travelers are most likely headed that way for David’s next gig on the soccer field.
