Johnny Depp is Honored for His Lifetime Achievements

December 14th, 2009 // 1 Comment

46 year old Oscar nominated actor, Johnny Depp, found himself dumbfounded as he accepted an award for his life’s work at the Bahamas International Film Festival in Nassau. Speechless, the actor described his feelings by saying, “The first thing I say is ‘why?’ I just go to work like anyone else, except my job is a little stranger.

Although Depp is set to replay his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the newest Pirates of the Caribbean film, he made it clear that he is “still amazed [that he] gets jobs after all this time.”

Described as an “acting icon” by the festival’s director, Leslie Vanderpool, Depp was presented with a fish sculpture. Depp expressed his desire to spend the holidays on his private island in the Bahamas, because according to him, the Bahamas “is as close to paradise as anywhere you can get.”

Nice that he gets a career award from the great Sean Connery, but really – after all the great work Depp has done, he gets.. A FISH?!! While plain vanilla, every-role-is-the-same douchebags like Clooney get an Oscar? Give me a break. This is more of an insult than anything else. He probably only attended to see Connery and because he was on the way to his island nearby.
