Eccentric actor and all-around cool guy Johnny Depp gifted a kid with his chapeau. Sweeney Todd sent 12-year-old Jack Taylor from Oshkosh, Wisconsin (that’s a real place?) the fedora he wore in his new flick, Public Enemies. That’s a hot gift.
Depp is playing famed bank robber John Dillinger in the new movie, and Thomas (who apparently is presumptuous and completely unafraid to pressure movie stars into things) asked for the hat he wore. Depp said that he would said it to him when he was done with it.
The parents got involved and rattled off a note to the production company that reminded them that Depp owed a hat to probably be sold on Ebay for college funds. Sure enough, the family got a package with the hat, a personal note from Johnny, and enough promo items for Jack’s four siblings to enjoy.
“It’s not
exactly the easiest thing to make all five kids happy, but they did a
good job. It’s finally nice to see a celebrity being nice and following
through on his promises,” says Kris Brand, Jack’s mother. Has she had bad experiences with celebrities in the past? This bitch hates Daniel Radcliffe for not surrendering that friggin’ wand to her kids!
Johnny Depp is just a classy dude. He even recently invited Lindsay Lohan to some island. Hopefully it was the island called “wood chipper”.
He probably knew that Jack suffered through a broken home when his Mom married that Brand dude and figured he could use some movie memorabilia to help him through the after-school special times.

Yes Oshkosh, WI is a real place! Johnny spent a great deal of time there to film Public Enemies, as well as a lot of other historic towns in this state. It’s a great thing for our state to have something like this happen here!
