We all know that the lives of Jon Gosselin and Kate Gosselin have changed drastically since they first started Jon & Kate Plus 8 four years ago. What we all don’t know is how the show is going to work now that they are getting a divorce.
According to a statement from TLC, the show is going to remain basically the same, except that now we are watching a different part of their lives. “Our approach to the circumstance was simple: to cover the family with great care and thoughtfulness as they dealt with a subject that is all too familiar to many American families today. Jon and Kate have never said they were perfect, which has made them relatable and created an undeniable connection with the viewers. We will continue to capture this family’s journey in a respectful and sensitive way. The show comes back on Monday and most new episodes remain a work in progress. But I will tell you: the iconic couch is gone. Jon and Kate will now have separate chairs for their interview.”
Not the couch! I think it would have been way more poetic if they had kept the couch and there would have been an empty seat next to the person talking. Kate, the first of the two to use the armchair, says in the latest episode, “It is my new attitude that I’m going to do things I’ve never done before. This is what has stemmed out of all that — ‘I can do.’” This must include removing her wedding ring.
While Kate has just purchased a condo in Maryland and Jon has his place in New York where he hangs with Michael Lohan, the kids will remain in their Pennsylvania home. Each parent will take turns living in the house with the kids, so I don’t know how often we’ll actually Jon and Kate plus their 8 kids together.
Jon and Kate both seem to be moving on, but it’s still sad. I hate when reality TV stars break up. Not that reality TV relationships last, but it’s still sad. Can’t wait for Monday night to see how everything is going to play out!
