Jude Law Cleared of Assaulting Female Paparazzo

September 16th, 2009 // 2 Comments

Remember those photos from a few months ago where it looked like Jude Law assaulted a female photographer? He didn’t really assault her after all. Law has been cleared of all charges.

The star explained that he had been blinded by the camera flashes and as he held out his arm to shield his eyes, he accidentally struck one of the photographers.

In a statement, a spokesman for the Crown Prosecution Service said: “A careful analysis of the specific evidence in this case, which included photographs and eye witness statements, indicates that Mr Law had no intention to assault anyone.

“While Mr Law accepted that he may have come into contact with someone while attempting to make his way to his car, it is highly likely that a court would decide his actions were reasonable given that his path was deliberately impeded by a crowd of photographers.”

It pretty much looked like a smack to me, but that’s why I’m not a member of law enforcement.

I never thought he purposefully hit her in the first place. The pics looked too odd, and there were eyewitness accounts posted on other sites that said it was an accident and he was totally not mad. Paps should keep their distance and use long lenses or something. Their frenzy creates unsafe situations. If it’s just their “job,” then their “job” needs to be officially regulated with policy, just like every other profession, to ensure the safety of those involved. Otherwise, it ain’t a real “job.” That’s no excuse for some of their tactics.

When she said he purposefully hit her in the face, I went and looked at the pics more closely. In most of them it looks like he hit her in the back or side of the head, but never in the face. Just another case of someone trying to get money from someone who has it…
