Sing into the mic, Justin!
Reps would not confirm, but Variety reports that Justin Bartha is listed as part of the cast for “Lend Me a Tenor,” directed by Stanley Tucci, with previews beginning March 11 for an April 4 opening.
Bartha is slated to play Max in Ken Ludwig’s 1930s-set screwball comedy. Max, the assistant to the general manager of the Cleveland Opera company, wears blackface and helps the “show must go on” bit when “Otello” lead actor has a meltdown.
Not surprised that Bartha is playing the trusty, comedic side-kick here. I liked him red-eyed and redfaced in The Hangover, so we shall see.

“Lend me a Tenor” is a play — a ridiculously stupid play — so Justin won’t be singing any show tunes.
He WILL be singing opera, though, as called for in the script, which is a farce. I wouldn’t go as far as saying it is “ridiculously stupid,” but to each his own.
