Justin Timberlake, Elton John and Paula Abdul To Judge ‘American Idol?’

July 27th, 2010 // Leave a Comment

Justin Timberlake looks as confused about this headline as I am: WTF is going on over at American Idol? After losing Simon Cowell, tons of celebs have been shopped around as his replacement. But now rumor has it that former producer Nigel Lythgoe (So You Think You Can Dance?) will be signing back on for next season and wants to bring along a whole new panel of judges. That’s right: everybody out!

On Nigel’s Wish List are Timberlake, Elton John, Paula Abdul (nooooo) and Usher; he’d do away with the four judges set-up and go back to three, which he thinks distracts less from the contestants. The only current judge who is safe (at least for next season) from the axe is Randy Jackson whose contract, unlike for Kara DioGuardi and Ellen DeGeneres, extends through next season.

I have a hard time believing stars like Justin Timberlake will want to sit around on the judges panel of this sinking ship. Plus, Justin’s career is hotter than ever! With a handful of new movies coming out (he’s pictured filming Friends With Benefits in NYC on Saturday), who wants to sit next to Paula while she drools?
