Take that all you Kate Upton naysayers! Kate Upton is getting her due!
Model Kate Upton covers the 100th anniversary issue of Vanity Fair, and she has just been named model of the year by the Style Awards. This year Kate covered her second issue in a row of Sports Illustrated, landed her first Vogue cover, became the face of David Yurman, which are just a few of her accomplishments this year.
Upton will be receiving the Model of the Year award at the 10th annual Style Awards next week. The awards, scheduled for the day before Fashion Week at Lincoln Center, will be later aired on CNN on September 14 for the first time in the show’s history.
Now this! Kate Upton covers Vanity Fair’s 100th-anniversary issue, which was photographed by Annie Leibovitz. Kate tweeted her excitement.

In the accompanying interview for the magazine, Upton tells contributing editor Jim Windolf that her road to success wasn’t always easy: “I’m not going to name names, but one agency told me, ‘You’re too American, and everybody knows American women are lazy.’ I was so offended! I’ve never been so offended! I was like, ‘You know that you’re in America, right?’ And it wasn’t ‘American models’—it was ‘American women are lazy,’ period! I feel like a lot of women would disagree with that. A lot!”
