Lately, the only thing Katie Holmes appears to be good at, is being the punchline of SNL jokes. I’m not sure what else she does besides shop, play mom to a 4-year-old who has already surpassed her talent-wise and fake awkward, forced happiness to a man practically declared mentally unstable. Good thing she has little Suri Cruise to cuddle with or all hope would be lost for her spot in the lime light.
Yet Broadway has not learned its lesson and is considering welcoming her back onto the stage in Extremities. According to The New York Times, “Extremities had its Off Broadway premiere in 1982 at the Westside Theater with Susan Sarandon in the lead role, co-starring Ellen Barkin, Deborah Hedwall, and James Russo. Karen Allen and Farrah Fawcett later succeeded Ms. Sarandon, and Ms. Fawcett also played the part in a 1986 film version. The play was widely regarded as establishing Ms. Fawcett as a serious actress.” And Holmes is hoping it will do the same for her.
However, word is out on the Hollywood streets that Holmes might be attached. Producers had discussed the role with Matt Dillon, who is now tied up with another project, and Chloe Sevigny, who’s reps didn’t return calls earlier this week. How convenient!
