While many of us are barbecuing to our heart’s content, Katie Holmes spent Memorial Day weekend in Washington D.C. honoring our country’s war veterans.
The actress participated in the 20th annual National Memorial Day Concert, sponsored by PBS. Holmes and her All My Sons costar Dianne Wiest related the story of Staff Sergeant José Pequeño, who returned from a tour of duty in Iraq.
In an emotional reading, Holmes portrayed Pequeño’s sister, while Wiest took on the role of his mother Nellie at the star-studded event that will be broadcast live tomorrow on PBS.
