Fresh off her triumph on Broadway (hey, it sold tickets) and her turn as Victoria Beckham for Miu Miu, walking dead Katie Holmes has secured further employment. She will join Kevin Kline, Paul Dano and John C. Reilly in the comedy The Extra Man. Hopefully those three can help Joey Potter step up her game. Shooting begins next month, Katie’s back to NYC!

Kline stars as a failed playwright who works as a gigolo to rich widows, and Dano (so very, very good in There Will Be Blood) is his protege. We can assume that Holmes is “the girl,” so maybe we’ll get lucky and she’ll only shuffle on for a few scenes. Ugh. Can they just CGI Maggie Gyllenhaal into Batman Begins?
