Well, not technically, but she may as well be. New York Magazine reports that Katie Holmes is heading into the clothing design business with her stylist Jeanne Yang. So I’m guessing all that shopping she does is just research?
The line, called Holmes & Yang, will launch exclusively at Maxfield in LA offering womenswear as well as childrenswear. Are you serious? You mean that Katie is making kids clothes? Like clothes that Suri Cruise would wear? I hope they make it in a big size so Suri and I can match. I’m like obsessed with everything that small child wears.
It is quite nice of Katie to give her stylist and co-designer half credit. You know that part of her wanted to call it like Crolmes. At least this way, we know it’s no Katie doing the work. I think NY Magazine said it best though. “This way Yang can piggyback off Katie’s fame while still making a name for herself, rather than cower in a sweaty top secret basement somewhere as Holmes’s anonymous design slave, lorded over by Suri from atop her highest high chair.” Suri totally would. That girl is such a badass.
As long as Katie doesn’t design anything similar to her costume in her new movie Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark, I think we’re OK, right? Honestly, her outfits are horrible. I mean, I know it’s a movie about evil gnomes (yes!), but you can fight them off and still look decent. Good luck with the line Katie! Can’t wait for the Suri collection!
