Shortly before their wedding, both Keith and Nicole got a severe case of cold feet and nearly called the whole thing off. Obviously, they didn’t, and Keith is singing about “Love, Pain, and the Whole Damn Thing” because of it. The two have planted some serious roots in Nashville, TN, and Keith is happy because he can give her an environment where she can blossom.

I’m sure Nicole’s past relationship had a tiny bit to do with her cold feet. Just a guess…
