Kiera Knightley Has All the Charisma Of A Goldfish

December 19th, 2009 // 11 Comments

Keira Knightley
is currently staring in Moliere’s The Misanthrope and it is not going so well for the actress.

Quentin Letss, critic from the Daily Mail, described Knightley as “little better than adequate,” “dull,” and proclaimed she has “all the charisma of a serviceable goldfish.”

Unfortunately for the Pride and Prejudice star all the critics agree her West End debut was a fail. Lucky for her many critics did comment on how extremely beautiful she is.

Is anyone surprised? Did you see Pirates of the Caribbean? She was awful! Her acting skills are sub par and cringe worthy.

She should count her lucky stars that she’s she gorgeous or she’d have no career.

This is the biggest load of crap I’ve read all week. That quote is a lie.

Have you actually read the British papers? The Independent, The Times, The Sunday Times, The Guardian, The Evening Standard, the Daily Telegraph and the BBC all gave her good, in some cases glowing reviews of her portrayal of Jennifer in the Misanthrope. Even Variety, the American publication, gave her a good review.

You choose to quote ONLY the Daily Mail, which is a tabloid and hates Keira, because she sued them years ago.

Here is a quote by the Independent, one of Britain’s major papers:

“So it’s a tonic to report that Knightley finesses all this ethical fussing by turning in a performance that is not only strikingly convincing but, at times, rather thrilling in its satiric aplomb.”

And by the way, her name isn’t Kiera, it’s Keira.

    @ Ellen

    Oh come off it.

Keira/Kiera (who CARES) is a crap actress and person.

    Fan(atics) are so nutty.

    @ Tony

Nope. I bet I can give you more then 20 famous women are STUNNING.

    Idiot.

Ranter, you must be the person who posted this article that got everything wrong and also misspelled her name. Says a lot about your intelligence or lack thereof. I’d rather be a fanatic than an idiot who can’t spell and doesn’t bother to check her sources.

By the way, calling other people out on things you can’t even validate makes you look stupid. Enough said, you’re not worth the bother.

Hit a raw nerve did I? The fact that you write fiction and pass it off as fact, doesn’t say too much about you. But then calling other people out for pointing out your mistakes, because of your obvious prejudice and need for self-validation, not smart.

Oh, and one little bit of advice, spelling people’s names correctly is a sign of good manners. You should try it sometime. I shan’t bother with you anymore, it’s not worth the trouble.

I was going to say something rude and insulting towards Socialite and the rest of their idiotic writers who writes crap like this, but I decided to let Ellen tell it like it is.

Unfortunately for anyone who has a brain, the Daily Mail isn’t a news source to be taken seriously. seeing as how they portray fiction as reality and especially since Knightley has SUED them, rightfully so might I add.

So yeah. You guys are idiots.

Relax, I’m just coming back here to apologize for the triple posts. I got two error messages from the site which said the posts didn’t go through. I thought only the last one went through. It’s fine though.

    James, right on!

You know I’m not one to quite wiki on anything, since a lot of what they say is BS, but if you go to the Keira Knightley article, you’ll see a link on what the reviewers had to say about her stage performance last Thursday. And for the most part, they were pretty positive for a first timer on stage. She did pretty well financially as well as in the reviews area considering this is her first stage performance.

And seeing as how The Socialite is listing the daily mail as a source, it shows just how stupid they are.

Really? I guess you aren’t reading the same reviews that the rest of us have. Despite one hack from the daily mail, here is what the rest of the reviewers had to say.

“So it’s a tonic to report that Knightley finesses all this ethical fussing by turning in a performance that is not only strikingly convincing but, at times, rather thrilling in its satiric aplomb.”
    -The independent

“Gaining in strength throughout the show, Knightley has a spot-on American accent and a nice line in disdain that turns tough as events overtake her. Producers may not yet be making lists of further theater roles in which to cast her, but Knightley silences the media doom-mongers and will ensure a financially successful run.”
    -Variety

“Knightley’s combination of shimmering intelligence, beauty, defiance and fear is about as effective as you could hope for.”
    - Andrew Haydon, CultureWars.org.uk

“Keira was extremely good. I thought she was even better than Damian Lewis, which was a real surprise to me. She did a wonderful job.”
    - Dee Jeffrey, Evening Standard

So yeah. In your face Socialite. Come back when you’re ready to get your sources straight.
