King of Queens Reign is Over

December 22nd, 2006 // 5 Comments

E! Online reports that The King of Queens will end in May. Read this next bit quick, and then I’ll explain why you should care.

CBS is taking back the keys to the castle in Queens.

The network has announced that the latest season of The King of Queens will also be its last.

Currently in its ninth year, the blue-collar family comedy is the longest-running sitcom on television right now, taking over the title this year when Will & Grace and That ’70s Show left the airwaves.

While the series, centering on UPS driver Doug (Kevin James), his hard-working wife Carrie (Leah Remini) and her eccentric father (Jerry Stiller, of course), largely flew under the radar, airing on Monday nights alongside Emmy favorite Everybody Loves Raymond, it was a steady presence for CBS over the years.

More on how J. Harvey is going to miss Kevin James after the jump (the link is below).

I *heart* Kevin James. Big, lovable, beefy. And funny! Maybe he’s not your pony-tailed Orlando Bloom or your chiseled out of gold Brad Pitt, but you can split a sub and a six-pack with him and he can tell dirty jokes. That’s hot.

Err, uh yeah and his wife on the show is a Scientologist in real-life. There! That’s some gossip! (I’m really reaching here just to show photos of Kevin James…sad, really.)

If for some reason this terrible post makes you want to read MORE J. Harvey, check out Life & Style on newsstands now. J. Harvey is a “guest-judge” for their Fashion SOS column! And no Kevin James, he promises.

You know what’s funny, I this abortion of a show had been off the air for years. I thought it was clogging up the arteries rerunville. Truly one of the unfunniest shows, with the least comedy per episode. Poor Ben Stiller’s dad having to work with those no talents.

I found the show to be HILARIOUS. I will miss it! Atleast it will be immortalized in syndication. I guess west-coasters and country folk fail to understand that type of humor (just as I fail to find “Reba” funny or “7th Heaven” endearing…) I guess some shows appeal to only its targetted audience and others are more widespread. This show hit the bullseye for us Northeners!!
