Today, we’re re-launching something that we used to do years ago. I’ll be tackling and giving my option on one or two news-making or major news stories of the day – which may or may not be celebrity related. Then you’re free to discuss my thoughts on the topics in the comments below.
So who am I going to tackle first? Lady Gaga!
So Ms. Ga has announced a new single from her forthcoming album ARTPOP (yes, all capital letters), called “Applause.” The single’s cover features a close-up image of GaGa looking like a pierrot in colorful make-up and a black headwrap. The image was shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, the same duo behind GaGa’s photos for the newest issue of V Magazine.
As for the song, Gaga told WWD…
“I’ll tell you that it is very fun,” she says. “And that it’s full of happiness, because what I’m saying in the song essentially is that I live for the applause. I live for the way you cheer and scream for me. Give me that thing that I love. Put your hands up, make them touch.”
Shocker alert! Lady Gaga feeds off of the adoration of her fans.
Gaga wrote “Applause” with DJ White Shadow, with whom she’s collaborated for five years. “In my heart of hearts as I was writing, I knew that if I asked [the fans] to cheer for me before I sang or if I alluded to the fact that they would cheer for me before I sang….They do that all the time for me; before I even open my mouth, the fans start cheering for me. And so this exclamation, ‘Give me that thing that I love. Give it to me. I’m ready, start the music.’ I’m from New York. I’ve worked since I was a five-year-old to be a performer. All my life. I deserve to be here. I’m ready.”
What? All I’m interested in is hearing what the song is going to sound like. I’m tired of the over the top outfits (and it looks as if she may be too), tired of her fucking teacup and tired of the Lady Gaga persona.
This past Saturday Ga attended the 20th Annual Summer Benefit for the Watermill Center on Saturday, which was held at the venue in New York City. The centre is a billed as a “laboratory for performance” where up-and-coming artists are encouraged to test out ideas.
“There was a casket with a cake of a totally naked woman lying in what looked like a pool of blood. On a table nearby there was a row of little spoons – no one had touched them, because no one knew what they were for. Robert [Wilson] gave two spoons to Gaga and [artist] Marina Abramovic (of the Jay Z performance art fame) and Gaga dipped the spoon right between the artist’s legs, and took a sip,” an insider told New York Post.
“[She then] proceeded to lick the spoon.”
At one point at the event, Gaga, Marina, and Wilson posed on a haystack What is it with divas and hay?
